Socrates & Plato on Revelation of God

"Oh that someone would arise, man or god to show us God."
~ Socrates (5th Century B.C)

"Unless a god-man comes to us and reveals to us the Supreme Being, there is no help or hope. The world will never be set right until the perfect man arises who will be persecuted, buffeted, and tied to a stake and so bring a new righteousness."
~ Plato (4th Century B.C.)

"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!"
John 1:2

Do you know where this quote occurred, in what writing originally? Plato or Socrates. I'm doing research on this and I would really appreciate any help.

Hi Lauren, thanks for asking. I should have cited a source on this. I've also done some searching and it appears that both the Plato and Socrates quotes are repeated together by bloggers and in other messages, all without attribution which makes me question their legitimacy. I can't find anything reputable anywhere in my searching. If anyone ever finds a source for these I'd love to know!
